The Weekly News Roundup - week of November 22 - 26

Movies
- Disney Animation has announced that after "Tangled," they're done with fairy tales "indefinitely." I think that should probably read "for an unspecified amount of time," or "until the fad for up-to-the-minute junky animated movies is done." (JSYK)
- OMG you guys, new trailer for Bieber's movie "Never Say Never," and he takes his shirt off for like a tenth of a second! Anyone else already bought their tickets online for February? (JSYK)
- HP7 broke franchise records by pulling in $125.1 million its opening weekend, $24 million of which was just from the midnight shows opening night. Worldwide it made $330 million. Pretty, pretty impressive. Either it didn't end up being too scary for the wee ones, or the therapy industry is about to experience a Potter bubble. (JSYK)

TV
- American Idol is doing everything differently this year. In addition to changing up the judges and the time slot, they've decided to lower the minimum age to 15. For any other show, these stunts would hint at desperation. (JSYK)
- While waiting to be interviewed by Extra over at the Grove this week, Glee cast member Darren Criss serenaded shoppers with an acoustic cover of "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid. (JSYK)
- After a schoolmate criticized "Sarah Palin's Alaska" on his Facebook page, Willow Palin lashed out at him with homophobic (and grammatically incorrect) slurs, and Bristol criticized him, too, just not quite so alarmingly. Since then, Willow deleted her Facebook account. Here's hoping she's spending her newfound free time learning tolerance and studying English. (JSYK)
- That NBC special about Taylor Swift aired at 8pm on Thanksgiving. Did you spot us in the crowd at the Hollywood show? (JSYK)
- Jennifer Grey won this season of Dancing With The Stars. The other finalists were put in a corner. (Cambio)
- There are rumors that Glee's Dianna Agron is engaged to Alex Pettyfer after only a few months of dating. (Cambio)

- Miley turned 18 on Tuesday, and celebrated with a quiet family party at home and a vow to tone down the scandalous behavior. HAHA JUST KIDDING! Party out on the town, black leather bikini top, make-out photos on TMZ, cake bigger than her, the works. (JSYK)
- The band A Day To Remember released their fourth album, "Better Off This Way," which is gentler and more melodic than their previous post-hardcore sound. (JSYK)
- Taylor Swift performed at the AMAs last weekend, but the big story was her hair. Can you believe she straightened it and wore bangs?! Who does that? Other than Taylor Swift a year ago? (JSYK)
- The Black Eyed Peas will be performing the Superbowl halftime show this February in Dallas. (Teen)
- The tree-lighting ceremony was Sunday at The Grove and featured performances by David Archuleta, Charice, Corbin Bleu, and Jesse McCartney. The fireworks were pretty cool, too, from what I could tell. (JJJ)
- It finally happened: someone wrote a song about BBM. "BBM" is by Sean Kingston, featuring Soulja Boy and Teairra Mari, and yes, it's about Blackberry messenger. Wow. (JJJ)
- Kanye did a surprise-ish concert at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC this week, and he performed his entire new album start to finish. Or maybe he played it from his iPod. Conspiracy theorists unite! (Cambio)
- Taylor Swift announced dates for her Speak Now tour. 87 shows in 19 countries, starting in February in Singapore. (JSYK)
- And there are rumors that Tay spent Thanksgiving with Jake Gyllenhaal. (Cambio)

Trendz
- The hottest toy right now is Squinkies. Collectible, cutesy, and cheap - what more could you want? Wal-Mart has been sold out of them for a week, and they're flying off shelves everywhere else. (NYTimes)

Working for a Brighter Tomorrow
- NJ Senator Frank Lautenberg has teamed up with the Trevor Project to introduce legislation requiring all schools that receive federal aid to have policies prohibiting harassment of students.
