The Weekly News Roundup - week of September 13 - 17

BieberWatch 2010
- In his cover interview with Teen Vogue, Justin Bieber revealed that the worst time for fans to approach him is when he's eating. I guess he hasn't had a crazy fan knock on his bathroom window. Yet.
- The girl in Bieber's "Baby" video, Jasmine Villegas, has joined the second half of his North American "My World" tour.
- Bieber finally met Greyson Chance backstage at the VMAs last weekend. I like to think Bieber got all giggly and starstruck, and Chance handled it magnanimously.
- Bieber performed a 4-minute medley at the VMAs ("U Smile", "Baby" and "Somebody to Love"), and also won his first Moon Man trophy for Best New Artist.
- There are rumors that the Biebster will star in a secret Will Smith-produced film based on Bieber's life. We'll finally find out if he can act!
- Bieber's other movie, partly taped at his Madison Square Garden concert, will be in theaters in 3-D starting February 11, 2011.

One Jonas To Rule Them All
- Nick Jonas turned 18 yesterday. Ladies.
- Kevin Jonas brought his wife Danielle to Disneyland on Wednesday. He's all growd up!

Taylor Swift is Everywhere
- Taylor Swift's new single "Mine" leaked several weeks before its scheduled release. I had nothing to do with that.
- At the VMAs last weekend, Taylor performed the song "Innocent", hitting back at Kanye for his shenanigans at last year's VMAs. It did not go over as well as she'd hoped. A year late and a dollar short, darling...
- Taylor Swift is preparing to release her new album "Speak Now" on October 25th, and she will mark the album release with a live performance at the United Nations in New York. MTV and CMT are running a contest where a few lucky fans will win a trip to this performance, and as a bonus they will then fly with Taylor back to LA, conducting live radio interviews with her during the flight.
- Emma Stone hit the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie "Easy A" with her BFF, Taylor Swift.

Movies
- Twilight's Kristin Stewart said in an interview that she was glad to leave school at age 13 because it "wasn't really her thing." Unlike 95% of 13-year-olds. Got it.
- Speaking of Kristin Stewart, Twilight, and ages, her character Bella's birthday was on Monday. In a weird twist of fate, Bella shares a birthday with her creator, Stephanie Meyer. Freaky...
- Emma Stone hit the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie "Easy A" with her BFF,Taylor Swift. Kendall and Kylie Jenner were also there, as was Keke Palmer and Aly and AJ Michalka.
- Zac Efron was in London this week for the British premiere of "Charlie St. Cloud" in Leicester Square. He is currently sporting a creepy beard. No word as to whether it's England-related.
- At the "Janie Jones" after-party at the Toronto Film Festival this week, Abigail Breslin sang several songs to entertain the crowd, which included the likes of Harvey Weinstein.
- Emma Roberts hit the red carpet for the NYC premiere of her movie "It's Kind of a Funny Story."
- The premiere of "Fred: The Movie" was on Saturday in Hollywood. Red carpet luminaries included Victoria Justice, Leon Thomas, Gia Mantegna, Joe Mantegna, Jolene Purdy, Italia Ricci, Robbie Amell, David Archuletta, Jenette McCurdy, Daniella Monet, Elizabeth Gillies, and of course Lucas Cruickshank.

Music
- 18-year-old Sky Ferreira's song "Obsession" is the focus track on the soon-to-be-released soundtrack to "The Vampire Diaries"
- A month before the release of her new album "The Sun Comes Out," Shakira made a new (second) video for her single "Waka Waka", which was the theme song to this summer's World Cup in South Africa. No word yet on which other Muppet catchphrases she will turn into hit songs.
- Katy Perry performed a free concert at her old high school on Tuesday. I'm jealous - the biggest star to come out of my high school was Big Bird, and he never gave back.
- iCarly's Jenette McCurd's new video for her song "Not That Far Away" has an interactive element - fans can upload photos of themselves, which become integrated into the video. Neat idea, but it can't possibly be cooler than http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com/
- Miley Cyrus was pulled over on Monday for talking on her cell phone while driving. It's a far cry from Britney and LiLo circa 2007, eh?
- Other reports claim Miley was actually parked when on the phone. They say paparazzi swarmed her car and she called the cops to have them escort her to safety. A likely story.
- Miley was also seen kissing her former-ex-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. Breaking up with Liam is the new Quitting Twitter.
- Lady Gaga is getting her own perfume line! Now you too can smell like flank steak, bubble wrap, gyroscopes, or robots.
- 19-year-old British pop singer Pixie Lott released the music video for her song "Broken Arrow!", but more importantly, she also nabbed a Guinness World Record for largest chart-leap: from #72 to #1 in one week.
- JustJaredJr covered Cody Simpson's walk with Zack Bonner on Tuesday in Santa Monica! The one we also covered! OMG!
- Big Time Rush unveiled the cover art for their upcoming debut album.
- Ryan Seacrest broadcast from Children's Hospital of Orange County on Monday. His guests included Emily Osment, Rico Rodriguez, Nolan Gould, and Kyle Massey, among others.

Glee
- Glee premieres next week, and the cast will be joined by Charice, playing a foreign exchange student named Sunshine Corazon whose singing prowess will put everyone to shame.
- Lea Michele posted an awesome photo on Twitter of Cory Monteith sporting a mullet for the upcoming religion-themed episode of Glee. Check out the totally tubular 'do: http://yfrog.com/5b4snqj

Non-Glee TV
- Demi Lovato appeared on America's Next Top Model this week, talking with the girls about her anti-bullying campaign. I have this horrible feeling they were only listening to get tips on how to bully each other.
- Chelsea Staub turned 22 this week, which means she only has 10 more years worth of teenage roles ahead of her.
- "Modern Family" starts back up again next Wednesday, September 22nd.
- It's rumored that Jennifer Lopez will be a judge on the upcoming season of American Idol. She might as well.
- SNL returns a week from tomorrow with host Amy Poehler and musical guest Katy Perry.

Trends
- Shakira wears Silly Bandz. We have proof.
- 9 out of 10 LGBT teens are bullied at school. Still. Seriously? What year is this?
- Quitting Twitter is the new Running Away From Home - everyone's doing it, but never for very long.

Web News
- Monique Coleman was joined by special guest Corbin Bleu this week on her webseries "Gimme Mo'"
- Demi Lovato has ended her Twitter break... after about a week. Of course, in teen years, that's like forever.
- Amanda Bynes quit Twitter this week, but will probably be back by next Friday.

Magazines
- The stars of "Teen Mom" are all over magazine stands right now. Don't worry, every generation has terrible taste in role models.
- Victoria Justice is doing a fall fashion spread in the October issue of Seventeen.
